Nigeria’s Falconets have been crowned champions of the 2025 WAFU B U20 Girls’ Cup after a commanding 3–0 victory over Ghana in their third game at the Omnisport Stadium in Adjohoun, Benin, on Tuesday, Bold Sports reports.

The win capped a perfect tournament for the Falconets, who had earlier defeated the defending champions Ghana 3–1 in their opening game and continued their dominance with goals from Janet Akekoromowei, Alaba Olabiyi, and Kareem Ramotalahi.

Nigeria broke the deadlock in the 16th minute when Janet Akekoromowei delivered a spectacular free kick that couldn’t be stopped by the Ghanian goalkeeper. Minutes later, the Falconets extended their lead after a brilliant cross was headed towards Alaba Olabiyi who showed composure to find the back of the net, giving Nigeria a two-goal lead heading into half-time.

The Falconets maintained pressure after the break, and in the 60th minute, Kareem Ramotalahi added the third goal, following up her brace from the previous game against Benin to seal a dominant victory.

With the win, Nigeria reached nine points from three games, moving three points clear of Ghana, who have six points from four matches. This ensured the Falconets were crowned champions even before their final group game against hosts Benin Republic, scheduled for Wednesday, November 12, at 10 a.m.

Head coach Moses Aduku is now expected to rotate players in the final match, giving opportunities to other members of the squad after a flawless tournament run.
