Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika suffered an early injury setback as Club Brugge were held to a dramatic 5-5 draw against Westerlo in their Belgium Pro League clash on Wednesday night, Bold Sports reports.
Onyedika, who started in midfield alongside Belgian youngster Lynnt Audoor, was forced off after just 16 minutes and replaced by Alexander Stankovic, cutting short his evening in what turned into a rollercoaster contest at the Jan Breydel Stadium.
The visitors made a flying start when Josimar Alcocer struck early, before Nacho Ferri doubled Westerlo’s lead on the stroke of halftime. But Brugge responded immediately, with Nicolo Tresoldi pulling one back just before the interval.
The turnaround continued after the break as Carlos Forbs equalised and Joaquin Seys completed the comeback six minutes later to put Brugge 3-2 ahead.
However, the chaotic contest swung again in the 61st minute, with Ferri netting his second of the night to level for Westerlo. Isa Sakamoto then restored the visitors’ lead in dramatic fashion, only for Brugge to claw their way back late on.
Tresoldi bagged his brace to make it 4-4, and an own goal from Emin Bayram looked to have sealed the points for Nicky Hayen’s side. But in a final twist, Bayram redeemed himself with a stoppage-time equaliser to end the thriller at 5-5.

The result leaves Club Brugge third in the Belgian Pro League standings with 14 points from eight matches, while Westerlo climb to ninth with 10 points.
Attention will now turn to Onyedika’s fitness, with Hayen hoping the Nigerian International’s injury is not serious as Brugge prepare for key fixtures in both the league and the UEFA Champions League.
