Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala continued her fine start to life in Saudi Arabia, scoring and providing an assist to help Al Hilal secure a 3-2 victory over rivals Al Ahli in the Saudi Women’s Premier League on Saturday.

The six-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year, who scored on her competitive debut in Al Hilal’s 4-3 win over Al Qadsiah last weekend, once again proved decisive as her new side made it back-to-back wins at the start of the campaign.

Al Ahli drew first blood in the 22nd minute when Moroccan forward Ibtissam Jraïdi converted from the penalty spot. But Al Hilal responded swiftly, equalising through Portuguese international Jéssica Silva after being set up by Oshoala.

Moments later, the Nigerian striker put her name on the scoresheet, confidently dispatching a penalty in the 30th minute to put the visitors ahead.

The hosts fought back shortly after the restart, with Fadwa Khaled striking to bring the game level at 2-2. However, Al Hilal found the winner nine minutes from time when substitute Manar Al Enezi struck to seal all three points in dramatic fashion.

The result leaves Al Hilal as one of only three teams to have won their opening two games of the season, placing them third on the table with six points. Al Ahli, meanwhile, sit fourth with three points after two rounds of fixtures.
