Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala enjoyed a dream debut for Al Hilal Women on Friday, scoring from the penalty spot to help her new side claim a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Al Qadsiah in their Saudi Women’s Premier League opener.

Oshoala, who joined the Riyadh-based club from Bay FC in the United States, was handed a starting role in attack alongside French forward Kheira Hamraoui. The pair led a confident Al Hilal side determined to begin their campaign on a winning note.

The hosts struck first through Al Bandari Mobarak, who bagged a quick-fire brace in the 30th and 36th minutes to put Hilal firmly in control. But Al Qadsiah showed resilience, pulling one back just before the break through French defender Léa Le Garrec to make it 2-1 at halftime.

The visitors restored parity in the 58th minute when Brazilian striker Adriana found the net, but Oshoala stepped up moments later, converting from the spot to put Al Hilal back in front with her first goal for the club. Portuguese midfielder Jéssica Silva then extended the lead to 4-2 in the 74th minute, all but sealing the victory.

Although Dzsenifer Marozsán struck late to reduce the deficit to 4-3, Al Hilal held firm to claim all three points in a thrilling opening-day encounter.

The win marks a strong start to the season for Al Hilal, who will now turn their attention to the next league game against Al Ahli on Saturday, September 20. Al Qadsiah, meanwhile, will aim to bounce back when they host Al Nassr on Thursday, September 18.
