Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi scored his second goal of the season, but he could not prevent OGC Nice from slumping to a disappointing 4-1 defeat against Brest in their Ligue 1 clash on Saturday, Bold Sports reports.

Brest, who had lost their opening three matches of the season, produced a clinical display in front of goal to register their first victory in front of their home fans. The win lifted them to 13th on the table with four points from five games.

The hosts wasted no time in stamping their authority, racing into a two-goal lead inside the opening 10 minutes. Ludovic Ajorque opened the scoring in the sixth minute before Romain Del Castillo struck three minutes later to leave Nice stunned.

Moffi halved the deficit on the half-hour mark, increasing the visitors’ hopes of a comeback, but his strike proved to be Nice’s only effort on target in the first half despite enjoying more possession.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Franck Haise’s men controlling much of the ball but struggling to break through a disciplined Brest defense. The home side remained dangerous on the counter and restored their two-goal cushion in the 70th minute when Jory Chotard fired home.

Substitute Rémy Lascary put the result beyond doubt six minutes later, scoring his first goal for Brest to seal a convincing 4-1 victory.

Nice, who now sit 11th with six points from five matches, will be hoping to quickly put the defeat behind them as they begin their Europa League campaign at home against Roma on Wednesday. Brest, meanwhile, will look to build on their momentum when they travel to Angers next weekend.
