Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu scored his third goal of the season to rescue a point for Trabzonspor as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Gaziantep in their Turkish Super Lig clash on Saturday, Bold Sports reports.
Trabzonspor, looking to bounce back from last weekend’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Fenerbahçe, were frustrated once again by a disciplined Gaziantep side who made the most of their only clear opportunity.
The visitors stunned the home crowd in the 39th minute with a brilliantly executed set-piece as Alexandru Maxim crossed the ball to Kevin Rodrigues close to the edge of the box, and the full-back rifled a first-time volley beyond Andre Onana into the bottom corner.
Trabzonspor pushed for an equaliser after the restart and finally found their breakthrough in the 70th minute. Goalkeeper Onana launched a long ball forward that Onuachu controlled superbly, muscling past his marker before skipping past the onrushing goalkeeper and calmly finishing into an empty net to restore parity.

Despite the momentum from Onuachu’s leveller, Trabzonspor were unable to carve open the visitors’ backline again, with Gaziantep holding firm to secure a valuable away point.
The result leaves Trabzonspor fourth in the standings with 11 points, four adrift of leaders Galatasaray who still have a game in hand. Gaziantep’s resilience sees them sit sixth with 10 points, extending their unbeaten run to four matches.
Trabzonspor, now winless in three, will be desperate to return to winning ways when they travel to face Karagümrük next weekend, while Gaziantep host Samsunspor in their bid to keep their momentum alive.
