Nigerian striker Gift Orban scored his first goal of the season to help Hellas Verona secure a 1-1 draw with Juventus in their Serie A clash at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi on Sunday, Bold Sports reports.
Orban, who joined Verona on loan during the summer transfer window, coolly converted from the penalty spot to cancel out Chico Conceição’s early opener for the visitors. Despite a spirited display from the hosts, they were unable to find a winner and had to settle for their third draw in four league matches.
The 23-year-old’s performance was a bright spot for Verona, earning him the man of the match award as he demonstrated his ability to rise to the occasion against one of Italy’s top clubs.

The result leaves Verona in 15th place with three points, but head coach Paolo Zanetti will hope the resilient showing against Juventus can serve as a springboard when they turn their attention to Wednesday’s Coppa Italia clash with Venezia.
For Juventus, the draw proved frustrating despite temporarily lifting them to the top of the Serie A table with 10 points. Igor Tudor’s men will look to return to winning ways when they host Atalanta in their next league game on Saturday, September 27.
For Orban, the goal could mark the start of an important chapter in his career. Once hailed as one of Europe’s brightest young forwards, the Nigerian has shown flashes of his potential but struggled for consistency in recent seasons. With regular minutes at Verona, he will now be aiming to rediscover his form and establish himself among Serie A’s emerging attacking talents.
