Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan has stormed into the women’s 100m hurdles final at the Tokyo 2025 World Championships after winning her semifinal heat in commanding fashion, Bold Sports reports.
The world record holder clocked 12.36s (-0.2) to finish ahead of the Netherlands’ Nadine Visser, who ran 12.45s, while Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska secured third in 12.51s. Amusan’s time was also the fastest across all heats in the semifinals.
Amusan had set the tone earlier in the championships by winning her opening heat in 12.53s, holding off Bahamian star Devynne Charlton (12.69s) to reach the semifinals in style.

She will now face a star-studded field in the final, which includes Grace Stark (USA), Masai Russell (USA), Danielle Williams (Jamaica), Ditaji Kambundji (Switzerland), Nadine Visser, Devynne Charlton, and Pia Skrzyszowska.
In the men’s 400m hurdles, Nigeria’s Ezekiel Nathaniel also impressed, winning the final heat in 48.37s to secure his place in the semifinals. He crossed the line ahead of American Caleb Dean (48.67s), while Brazil’s Francisco Dos Reis Viana set a personal best of 48.69s to finish third.
With Amusan in pursuit of another global crown and Nathaniel showing strong form, Nigeria’s athletes continue to shine as the Tokyo 2025 World Championships heat up.
