The Dallas Wings have signed D’Tigress forward Amy Okonkwo for the remainder of the season following her impressive performances during her double hardship contracts with the franchise.
Okonkwo initially joined the Wings on a seven-day hardship contract on August 21 as an emergency replacement, with the team battling multiple injuries and illnesses that depleted their roster. Her strong showings earned her a second seven-day hardship deal on August 29, before the team ultimately rewarded her with a rest-of-season contract.
Confirming the move in a statement, the Wings wrote: “The Dallas Wings have signed Amy Okonkwo to a rest-of-season contract. Okonkwo has averaged 9.8 points and 2.8 rebounds over six games with the Wings this season.”

The Wings, already eliminated from playoff contention, have just two games left in the 2025 campaign, against the Los Angeles Sparks and the Phoenix Mercury.
Injuries have heavily impacted the team all season, sidelining key players such as Luisa Geiselsöder (right shoulder), Ty Harris (left knee), Arike Ogunbowale (right knee), JJ Quinerly (left knee), Li Yueru (left knee), while Myisha Hines-Allen (illness) and Haley Jones (right knee) only recently became available.
At 29, Okonkwo’s performances have not gone unnoticed, and she is expected to attract interest, whether from the Wings or other WNBA franchises, for a permanent roster spot ahead of the 2026 season.
