Nigeria’s D’Tigers will face either Senegal or South Sudan in the quarterfinals of the ongoing FIBA Afrobasket 2025 after sealing a spot in the last eight with a 99-90 victory over Cameroon in their final Group B game on Sunday in Luanda.

The D’Tigers are one of four teams, along with hosts Angola, Ivory Coast, and Egypt, to have automatically qualified for the quarterfinals by finishing at the top of their respective groups with an unbeaten record.

Senegal, with two wins and one loss, finished second in Group D, while South Sudan placed third in Group C with one win and two losses. Both teams will slug it out in the quarterfinals qualification pathway, with the winner guaranteed to share the court with D’Tigers on Wednesday.

Nigeria’s next game will be played on Wednesday at the Pavilhão Multiusos de Luanda in Angola.

Despite having less than ten days to prepare for the tournament, the D’Tigers have quickly found their rhythm and established themselves as one of the best teams in the competition.

Nigeria currently lead all teams in scoring with 263 points over three games, averaging 87.7 points per game. They also lead in key statistical categories, including field goal percentage (49.0%), two-point field goals (64.8%), and efficiency (101.1 per game).
