Samuel Chukwueze’s goal was not enough to salvage a result for 10-man AC Milan, who succumbed to a heartbreaking 98th-minute winner as Lazio secured a 2-1 victory at the San Siro in a Serie A clash on Sunday.
Milan, desperate to end a three-game winless streak across all competitions, were dealt an early blow when Mattia Zaccagni put Lazio ahead in the 28th minute. The hosts struggled to break through the visitors’ resilient defense, and their task became even more daunting in the 67th minute when center-back Strahinja Pavlović received a red card, sparking protests from his teammates.
In a tactical substitution, Samuel Chukwueze replaced Christian Pulisic in the 70th minute, and despite being a man down, Milan found a lifeline in the 85th minute when Chukwueze rose to head home a brilliant equalizer.

Just as Milan looked set to salvage a point, disaster struck in stoppage time. A reckless challenge by goalkeeper Mike Maignan on Lazio’s Gustav Isaksen resulted in a penalty, which Pedro calmly converted in the 98th minute, leaving the Milan faithful heartbroken.
The defeat extends Milan’s winless run to four games across all competitions and sees them drop to ninth in the Serie A table, putting their European qualification hopes in jeopardy.
Chukwueze’s goal takes his tally for the season to five in 29 appearances across all competitions, including three goals in 21 Serie A matches.
Milan’s struggles with form and consistency this season have led to managerial changes, with Paulo Fonseca being dismissed and Sergio Conceição brought in. However, the team’s performances remain disappointing despite the change at the helm.
