‎Nigeria could welcome back one of their most experienced defenders ahead of next month’s international window, with encouraging news emerging from England regarding Semi Ajayi’s recovery.

‎The 32-year-old centre-back has been sidelined since sustaining a hamstring injury during Nigeria’s third-place playoff against Egypt in Morocco. The setback ruled him out of club action and placed his availability for upcoming national team fixtures in doubt.

‎However, fresh updates suggest progress.

‎The Super Eagles are scheduled to compete in a Four-Nation Invitational Tournament in Amman, Jordan, where they will face Iran, Costa Rica, and hosts Jordan. With preparations gradually taking shape, Ajayi’s improving condition offers reassurance to the technical crew.

At club level, Hull City manager Sergej Jakirović confirmed that the defender has resumed individual training, marking a significant step forward in his rehabilitation process.

‎“Semi (Ajayi) is going well, but again, not back in the team training just yet. Toby’s (Collyer) a little bit behind Semi. He’s still doing some individual rehab,” the Bosnian tactician revealed.

‎Although he has not yet rejoined full group sessions, the update indicates that Ajayi is edging closer to competitive fitness. The former Arsenal academy player has been a consistent presence for Nigeria in recent tournaments, bringing composure and aerial strength to the backline.

‎Hull City, currently fifth in the EFL Championship and nine points behind leaders Coventry City, will also be monitoring his progress closely as they push for promotion.

‎For Nigeria, the timing could hardly be better. With international fixtures approaching and squad selection discussions imminent, Ajayi’s steady recovery provides a defensive lift and renewed optimism ahead of a demanding March schedule.
