Nigerian winger David Akintola has left Hull City after the club mutually terminated his contract. The decision clears the way for his permanent transfer to Cypriot side Omonia FC, Bold Sports reports.

‎Akintola made 21 appearances for Hull City during the 2025/26 campaign. He scored once and provided two assists. His season also included appearances in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup. He played a role as Hull secured promotion to the Premier League.

‎The 30-year-old joined the Tigers from Turkish Süper Lig side Çaykur Rizespor in August 2025.

‎He made his Hull City debut from the bench. That came in a 3-2 home win over Oxford United in August 2025.

‎Akintola then featured throughout Hull’s promotion-winning campaign. His performances helped him remain involved across the season.

‎The Nigerian winger also brought considerable experience from previous clubs. His career includes spells with Turkish sides Adana Demirspor and Hatayspor. He has also played for clubs in Norway and Cyprus.

‎Akintola’s move to Omonia marks a return to Cyprus. He previously represented the club in 2020.

‎His earlier spell at Omonia came during the 2019/20 season. The upcoming permanent transfer will therefore take him back to a familiar club.

‎Hull City confirmed the contract termination through an announcement on their official website.

‎The club thanked Akintola for his efforts during his time at the MKM Stadium. Hull also wished the winger well for the future.

‎Akintola now moves on after one season with Hull City. His departure comes as the club prepares for life in the Premier League, while the Nigerian begins another chapter with Omonia.
