Wilfred Ndidi returned to action for Besiktas, featuring for 66 minutes in their emphatic 4-0 win over Kayserispor in the Turkish Super Lig on Wednesday.
The Nigeria international had missed the club’s last two matches after picking up a hamstring injury while on international duty earlier this month.
His comeback is a major boost for Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle, who is preparing for Nigeria’s decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in October.

Chelle is already set to be without key players, including Ola Aina, who underwent surgery following a hamstring injury sustained in the 1-1 draw against South Africa during the international break.
Ndidi made way for Kartal Yılmaz after a solid shift, with his performance among the standouts despite the early substitution. Reacting afterward, the midfielder explained it was a precautionary move from the coach:

“It was just a precaution because I had just returned from injury, so I wasn’t meant to play for the entire 90 minutes. Also, we have another game in five days; it was just an injury precaution,” Ndidi said after the game.
Rafa Silva stole the spotlight as the game’s MVP with a stunning hat-trick, while Tammy Abraham also got on the scoresheet.
