‎Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has challenged Nigeria’s Flying Eagles to maintain discipline and concentration as preparations continue for the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship in Côte d’Ivoire.

‎Chelle delivered the message during a visit to the team at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Friday. The visit came shortly after the Flying Eagles completed a friendly match against Bussdor United, where the seven-time African champions secured an emphatic 5-0 victory.

‎The convincing win over Bussdor United highlighted the team’s growing momentum as they gear up for the regional tournament next month.

‎Nigeria’s U-20 side remains one of Africa’s most successful youth teams. The Flying Eagles are two-time FIFA U-20 World Cup runners-up and continue to build towards another major continental challenge. Their latest victory forms part of an intensive preparation programme designed to sharpen the squad before the competition begins.

‎The tournament will also serve as a qualification pathway to the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, making every stage of preparation crucial for the young Nigerian players.

‎Addressing the squad, Chelle stressed the importance of focus and obedience to the coaching staff.

‎”If you want to succeed, go far to achieve your dreams, you have to be focused and secondly, listen attentively to your coaches.”

‎The Super Eagles manager also explained that commitment and discipline could open doors to greater opportunities in football.

‎”If you do these, the sky will definitely be your starting point and chances for you to succeed is high.”

‎His remarks come at an important period for the team as they enter the final phase of preparations before travelling to Côte d’Ivoire.

‎The 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship is scheduled to run from 26 July to 9 August in Côte d’Ivoire. Seven national teams from the WAFU Zone B region are expected to compete for regional honours and qualification spots for the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

‎For Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, the countdown has now entered its final weeks. The focus will be on maintaining form, improving cohesion, and ensuring the squad is fully prepared when the competition kicks off.
