More than 30 Nigerian players will compete in the main draw of the World Tennis Tour Juniors J30 Lagos, which serves off on Monday, November 2, at the Lagos Country Club, Ikeja.
The second edition of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior tournament will be played on the clay courts of the club’s tennis section, with players aged 13 to 18 from different parts of the world expected to compete for honours.
Players from France, Sweden, Poland, India, Great Britain, the United States, Benin Republic and Italy, among other countries, are already in Nigeria for the competition, which is organised by the Tiger Tennis Foundation.
Ekiti-born Seyi Ogunsakin is the highest-ranked Nigerian in the boys’ event, while Goodnews Aina, also from Ekiti State, leads the Nigerian contingent in the girls’ category. Both players will be the top seeds in their respective draws as they lead the home challenge against their international counterparts.

Unlike the traditional knockout format, the J30 Lagos tournament will adopt a round-robin system, with players divided into different groups. The group winners will progress to the quarter-finals, where the competition will switch to a knockout format through to the finals.
The tournament will also provide an opportunity for emerging Nigerian talents to test their abilities against international opposition as they seek to improve their rankings and gain valuable competitive experience on the junior circuit.
At the inaugural edition in 2025, Javier Montes Jimenez and Ohunene Yakubu emerged as the boys’ and girls’ singles champions, respectively, across the two legs of the tournament.
However, neither player will return to defend their title this year, with both absent from the entry list for the 2026 edition.
The first leg of the J30 Lagos tournament will run from November 2 to 7, while the second leg is scheduled for November 9 to 14, with both events taking place at the Lagos Country Club, Ikeja.
