Nigeria Premier Football League champions Rangers International will be aiming to secure qualification for the group stage of the CAF Champions League when they face MC Alger in the second leg of their second preliminary-round tie at the Ali Lapointe Stadium later today.
Rangers head into the decisive encounter with a two-goal advantage following their 2-0 victory over the Algerian side in the first leg at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta on Sunday.
Despite their advantage, the Flying Antelopes cannot afford to be complacent, with MC Alger expected to pose a stern test on home soil. The Algerian giants demonstrated their strength at home in the previous qualifying round, following a goalless away draw against Niger’s Nigelec with a commanding 5-0 victory in the return leg.

With tensions reportedly simmering on and off the pitch between the two sides, the encounter promises to be a fiercely contested battle, as both teams fight for a place in the lucrative group stage of Africa’s premier club competition.
Rangers, under the guidance of head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, will be eager to protect their first-leg advantage and keep Nigeria’s flag flying in the competition.
However, MC Alger will be banking on home support and their attacking strength to overturn the deficit and keep their continental ambitions alive.

The winner of the tie will advance to the group stage of the CAF Champions League, while the losing side will miss out on progression in the competition.
