…Plateau United are unbeaten against Sporting Lagos in past meetings
In-form Sporting Lagos will be looking to extend their unbeaten run when they face third-placed Plateau United at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday.
The Tech Boys have enjoyed an impressive run of form in recent weeks, with their last defeat coming on September 20, when they suffered a surprising 2-0 home loss to Abia Warriors.
Since then, Sporting Lagos have gone unbeaten in five matches, recording an away victory over Enyimba, followed by three consecutive draws against Barau FC, Ikorodu City and Kano Pillars. They returned to winning ways over the weekend, securing their first home victory of the season with a 2-1 win over Bendel Insurance.

However, Plateau United will pose a formidable challenge for the Lagos-based side. The Peace Boys have also made an encouraging start to the campaign and currently sit third on the league table after eight matches, having recorded four wins, two draws and two defeats.
Fresh from a commanding 4-0 victory over Kano Pillars, Gbenga Ogunbote’s men will be keen to maintain their momentum against Sporting Lagos. With 11 goals scored in their last five matches, Plateau United have demonstrated their attacking threat and will be hoping to end the visitors’ unbeaten run. A victory could also move them closer to league leaders Enugu Rangers.
For Sporting Lagos, the start to the season has been encouraging, with the team already recording two wins and a draw on the road. Those results will provide a significant confidence boost as they prepare for a difficult test in Jos.

Historical meetings, however, favour the hosts. The two sides have met twice previously, with Plateau United winning both encounters. The Peace Boys secured a narrow 1-0 victory in Jos before recording a 2-1 away win in Lagos.
Sporting Lagos will therefore be aiming to rewrite the history books on Sunday by extending their unbeaten run and securing a positive result against one of the league’s in-form sides.
