Ikorodu City earned their first-ever victory over defending champions Enugu Rangers in the Nigeria Premier Football League, beating the Fidelis Ilechukwu-led side 2-0 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, Bold Sports reports.
It was Ikorodu City’s first win over Rangers in five NPFL meetings, having failed to achieve the feat in their previous four top-flight encounters.
The game started brightly for the hosts, who took the lead after just six minutes through a sublime free-kick from Remi Adeoye. Ikorodu City continued to control proceedings and deservedly doubled their advantage in the 63rd minute, with Ikechukwu Junior scoring a dazzling solo goal.
Ikorodu City dominated the game and could have added to their tally, but they were wasteful in front of goal.

The victory is Ikorodu City’s second of the season, and they will be hoping to build on the performance when they lock horns with Sporting Lagos in a Premium Lagos derby at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Wednesday.
For Enugu Rangers, it was their first defeat of the season. The defending champions will be looking to bounce back when they travel to face Warri Wolves away from home.
