Zadok Yohanna gets Brighton No. 36 shirt, set to make debut in Conference League clash

Zadok Yohanna will wear Brighton’s number 36 shirt during the 2026/27 campaign, retaining the same number he wore during his time at former club AIK, Bold Sports reports.

Brighton confirmed the development on Thursday through their official social media platforms, revealing their squad numbers ahead of their season opener against Norwegian side Tromsø in the UEFA Conference League play-off round.

The decision could be a strong indication that Yohanna is set to remain with Brighton’s senior squad rather than leave the club on loan this season.

The 19-year-old recently joined the Premier League side from AIK in what was a record sale for a Swedish club, and his chances of featuring for the first team could increase following reports that winger Yankuba Minteh is facing a potential three-month absence through injury.

Yohanna has already impressed during pre-season, featuring in a couple of matches for the Seagulls before travelling with the squad to Norway for Thursday’s Conference League play-off first leg against Tromsø.

Should he be introduced during the encounter, the Nigerian will make his competitive debut for Brighton, adding another significant milestone to what has been a rapid rise in his young career.

Yohanna joined AIK from Ikon Allah Academy, Kaduna in 2025 and quickly emerged as one of the Swedish club’s most promising young players. He scored five goals and provided two assists in 18 appearances, performances that attracted interest from several clubs across Europe before Brighton eventually won the race for his signature.

Brighton will face Tromsø at the Romssa Arena in the first leg of their decisive tie on Thursday, with the return fixture scheduled for the Amex Stadium on August 27. The winner on aggregate will secure a place in the league phase of the 2026/27 UEFA Conference League.
