Finnish champions HJK Helsinki have completed the signing of Nigerian youth international Qurib Adetola from Derby Football Academy, Boldsports report.
The 18-year-old has signed a contract that runs until the end of the 2027 season, with the club holding an option to extend the deal through 2028.
HJK confirmed they will pay a transfer fee to Derby Football Academy. Adetola joins the Finnish club’s development setup and is expected to feature for Klubi 04 as he begins his European career.
Adetola earned recognition during his time at Derby Football Academy, where he spent his entire youth development. The Nigeria youth international mainly operates as an attacking midfielder but can also play on either wing. His pace, close control and ability to operate in tight spaces have made him one of the academy’s standout prospects.
The midfielder has already been training with Klubi 04 since the middle of June. He could make his competitive debut on July 11 when the side faces Jippo in the Ykkösliiga.

HJK sporting director Petri Vuorinen believes the timing of the move will help the teenager settle quickly into European football.
”Adetola will arrive in the country exceptionally soon after turning 18, which is excellent timing. He quickly gets into European football. He is very skilled with the ball in small spaces, and he is really hardworking and conscientious defensively as well. There is a lot of potential in him when he learns to use his speed even better.”
The club also described Adetola as a player who performs best in attacking midfield or on the wing, highlighting his exceptional speed and technical ability.
The transfer represents an important step in Adetola’s career as he prepares for his first experience outside Nigeria. A strong start with Klubi 04 could accelerate his progress within HJK’s system and bring him closer to senior football.
If selected, the Nigerian youngster will look to make an immediate impression when Klubi 04 open their next league fixture against Jippo.
