Shooting Stars Sports Club have completed the signing of defensive midfielder Olakunle Akala from Kano Pillars on a one-year contract ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, Boldsports report.

‎The Oluyole Warriors confirmed Akala as one of their latest additions as they continue to reinforce their squad before the new campaign. His arrival adds experience and steel to the midfield as Shooting Stars aim to challenge strongly in the upcoming season.

‎Akala joins the Ibadan-based club after an impressive spell with Kano Pillars. Since arriving during the 2025/26 NPFL transfer window, he established himself as one of the club’s most consistent performers. The midfielder earned several Team of the Week selections, claimed multiple Man of the Match awards, and scored a spectacular goal that was widely regarded as one of the finest strikes of the season.

‎Before completing his move, Akala officially confirmed his departure from Kano Pillars with an emotional message to supporters.
