Haiti and Turkey have both been eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup after suffering defeats to Brazil and Paraguay respectively on Saturday.

Haiti lost 3-0 to Brazil in their second group match at Philadelphia Stadium, marking their second loss of the tournament after a 1-0 defeat to Scotland in their opener. The result left them bottom of Group C with no point.

Similarly, 10-man Paraguay secured a 1-0 victory over a wasteful Turkey side, handing them their second straight defeat after they also lost 2-0 to Australia in their opening match. The disappointing result sees them sit bottom of Group D with no point.

While Haiti may have been expected to find it tough in a group with Brazil, Morocco and Scotland, Turkey’s early elimination comes as a surprise.

The Crescent-Stars boast some impressive talents including Real Madrid midfielder Arda Güler, Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz, Inter Milan’s Hakan Çalhanoglu as well as Galatasaray’s Yunus Akgün, Baris Asper Yilmaz, and Ugurcan Çakir.

It marks a frustrating return to the World Cup for Turkey, who reached the tournament for the first time since 2002, but were unable to get a goal or a point despite recording 62 shots across their two matches so far.

Turkey’s elimination means that USA will finish as Group D winners regardless of their final group game result. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have recorded six points so far, defeating Paraguay 4-1 and Australia 2-0.

Meanwhile, in Group C, the top two spots are still up for grabs. Brazil and Morocco currently sit first and second with four points each, while Scotland are third with three points.
