Kelechi Iheanacho scored a crucial late winning goal as Celtic secured a 3-2 victory over Motherwell on Wednesday, keeping their Scottish Premiership title hopes alive.
The Super Eagles striker netted his fifth goal in seven games, taking his tally to eight goals across all competitions this season.
The victory means that Celtic are still in the title race. They remain just one point behind Hearts, and face the league leaders in their final match of the season on Saturday.
Motherwell had taken the lead against Celtic just 17 minutes in through Elliot Watt’s goal. However, Daizen Maeda leveled the scoreline in the 41st minute, making it 1-1.
Benjamin Nygren scored in the 58th minute to give Celtic a 2-1 lead. But the hosts equalised late in the game, with Liam Gordon finding the net in the 85th minute to make it 2-2.
The game seemed to be heading for a draw until late drama ensued. Celtic were awarded a penalty in the 97th minute after a foul by Sam Nicholson. Kelechi Iheanacho stepped up and converted the spotkick in confident fashion, snatching a huge victory for the visitors.

The result means that the final game of the season between Hearts and Celtic will determine the 2025/26 Scottish Premiership champions.
A draw or a win for Hearts will see them win the league for the first time since 1960. However, victory for Celtic will see them clinch the title for the fifth straight season.
