Nottingham Forest advanced to the UEFA Europa League semifinals after a 1-0 win over FC Porto in the second leg, sealing a 2-1 aggregate victory at the City Ground.‎‎

The decisive moment came in the 12th minute when Morgan Gibbs-White found the net. ‎‎The move started from a loose clearance by Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa. Neco Williams reacted quickly, won possession, and released Gibbs-White into space. The Forest captain drove forward, cut inside, and fired a shot that deflected off Zaidu Sanusi before beating the goalkeeper.‎‎

The game took a dramatic turn in the 8th minute. Jan Bednarek received a straight red card after a high and reckless challenge. The decision left Porto with 10 players for most of the match, forcing them to adjust their shape early.‎‎

Forest used the numerical advantage well. They controlled possession and pushed Porto deeper. The early dismissal disrupted Porto’s rhythm and limited their attacking options.‎‎

Ola Aina has been a regular presence in Forest’s European run, featuring in the first leg which ended 1-1. His consistency has strengthened the team’s defensive structure throughout the competition.

Terem Moffi started the match and remained involved in Porto’s attacking efforts. He received a yellow card in the 32nd minute before being substituted in the 66th minute.

‎‎Zaidu Sanusi also started but was taken off at the beginning of the second half in the 46th minute.‎‎

Despite their efforts, Porto could not break through. They created moments but lacked precision in the final third.‎‎

Nottingham Forest remained compact in the closing stages. Porto pushed forward despite being a man down, but Forest’s defense stayed organized.‎‎

The final whistle confirmed Forest’s progression to the semifinals, marking a major achievement in their European campaign.‎‎
