Italian Serie A club Atalanta have reached an agreement with Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce over the permanent transfer of Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman in a contract worth up to €40 million on a four-and-a-half year deal, according to reports.
Both clubs on Friday agreed to a €35 million fee plus €5 million in performance-related add-ons for the Nigeria international. However, the transfer is yet to be fully finalised as negotiations continue over acceptable payment terms.
While the agreement was concluded at club level, reports from Turkey indicate that Lookman will earn an annual salary of €9 million at Fenerbahce – a significant increase from the €2.3 million he currently earns at Atalanta.

Fenerbahce are set to beat rivals Galatasaray to Lookman’s signature after the defending champions had also expressed interest. There were suggestions that his Super Eagles teammate, Victor Osimhen, attempted to persuade him to join Galatasaray. La Liga side Atletico Madrid also showed interest.
During the summer transfer window, Lookman was close to joining Serie A rivals Inter Milan, but Atalanta rejected Inter’s €45 million bid, having placed a €50 million valuation on the forward for domestic rivals, while being open to lower offers from foreign clubs.
Inter’s eventual withdrawal from negotiations led to a fallout between Lookman and Atalanta, with the player leaving the club’s facilities for two weeks without notice. He later returned before the close of the transfer window and was reintegrated into the squad.
This season, Lookman has scored three goals in 19 appearances across all competitions, well below his usual standards, having previously recorded double-digit goal tallies for the club in recent campaigns.
