After scoring a brace to rescue a point for Sevilla in a 2-2 draw away at Elche, Super Eagles striker Akor Adams says he is delighted to contribute whenever called upon.
Adams, who had just returned from international duty with Nigeria at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco alongside teammate Chidera Ejuke, was introduced at half-time with Sevilla trailing 1-0 after Aleix Febas had put the hosts ahead in the 14th minute.
German Valera doubled Elche’s lead in the 55th minute, but Adams sparked Sevilla’s comeback. The striker pulled one back in the 75th minute before calmly converting a penalty deep into stoppage time in the 93rd minute to secure a valuable point.
Reflecting on his performance and goals, Adams expressed his satisfaction at helping his side against a difficult opponent.

“I’m back after a long tournament and the team needed me. It was good that the coach gave me minutes to bring energy to the team and help us get the draw,” Adams said after the game.
“I think we lost focus on a few small details. We played a good game that we should normally have won. Elche are a good team, but we created many chances and I believe we could have taken all three points.”
While Adams and Ejuke were away on AFCON duty, Sevilla had suffered four consecutive defeats, but the duo’s return appears to have injected renewed energy into the squad.

“The most important thing is the team. I watched all the games while I was away and the results weren’t what we wanted. We got a draw, I scored, and I’m very happy for the team. Now we’re focused on what’s next,” Adams added.
Sevilla will now be hoping to secure their first win in five matches across all competitions when they host Athletic Bilbao at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán on Saturday.
