…OG Anunoby miss out on NBA Cup MVP award
OG Anunoby scored a game-high 28 points to power the New York Knicks to their first-ever NBA Cup title, sealing a thrilling 124–113 victory over the San Antonio Spurs at T-Mobile Arena, Bold Sports reports.
Both teams entered the final seeking a maiden title, but it was the Victor Wembanyama-led Spurs who held the early advantage. San Antonio controlled the opening three quarters and carried a five-point lead into the final period, leading 94–89 at the end of the third quarter.
The Knicks, however, produced a dominant fourth-quarter performance, blowing the Spurs away with a 35–19 run to turn the game on its head and secure the historic win.
Despite missing out on the Most Valuable Player award to All-Star guard Jalen Brunson, Anunoby proved decisive, finishing with 28 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Brunson contributed 25 points, eight assists, and four rebounds in an outstanding display.

Karl-Anthony Towns posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Jordan Clarkson and Tyler Kolek provided a spark off the bench with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges scored 11 points apiece, and Mitchell Robinson pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds off the bench.
San Antonio had seven players score in double figures, but it was not enough to prevent defeat. Dylan Harper led the Spurs with 21 points off the bench, while Wembanyama added 18 points. De’Aaron Fox finished with 16 points and nine rebounds, Stephen Castle recorded 15 points and 12 assists, Luke Kornet had 14 points, Devin Vassell scored 12, and Harrison Barnes contributed 11.

Each player on the winning Knicks roster will receive $530,933 for lifting the NBA Cup. Two-way players, including Tosan Evbuomwan, will earn $265,466, approximately half of the standard two-way contract value of $636,435.
The Knicks become the third franchise to win the NBA Cup, following the Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder. The NBA Cup is an annual in-season tournament featuring all 30 NBA teams and was introduced during the 2023–24 season.
