Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has revealed that the team will only return to training once their demands are met by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the National Sports Commission.
The players went on strike on Tuesday, refusing to attend their scheduled evening training session ahead of their crucial FIFA African World Cup Qualifying Play-off semifinal against Gabon. The match is slated for Thursday at the Complexe Sportif Prince Héritier Moulay Abdellah in Rabat, Morocco.
Reports emerging from Rabat suggested that the players are demanding increased bonuses for the World Cup qualifier against Gabon, while others claimed they are seeking payment of all outstanding allowances and accumulated bonuses.

Troost-Ekong, in a post on microblogging platform X, confirmed that the team had boycotted training due to unresolved issues but noted that much of the circulating information on social media was inaccurate.
“Once a resolution is found, we will be the first to confirm,” the Super Eagles captain wrote.
“Any other statement, claim, or especially demands other than the rightful request written about below is FALSE. All we want and continue to do is focus on the big games ahead.”
The team is expected to resume training today as preparations continue for Thursday’s decisive encounter against Gabon.
