Amy Okonkwo’s double-double was not enough to help Besiktas Women secure their third win of the 2025/26 Women’s EuroCup campaign, as they narrowly lost 84–82 in overtime to Greek side Athinaikos.

Despite coming from 10 points down to force the game into overtime, Besiktas ultimately fell to their third defeat in five games in the competition. The Turkish side produced an incredible fourth-quarter rally, outscoring Athinaikos 15–5 to end regulation at 75–75, but they ran out of steam in the extra period, where they were edged 9–7.

Athinaikos had controlled the first half, winning the opening quarters 25–20 and 26–20. Besiktas showed signs of life in the third quarter, narrowly taking it 20–19 before their dominant fourth-quarter surge set up overtime. However, their comeback bid came up just short.

Four of Besiktas’ starters scored in double figures, led by Okonkwo, who delivered a monster performance with 21 points (6-of-8 from two-point range, 1-of-7 from beyond the arc, and 6-of-7 from the free-throw line), 11 rebounds, and three assists.

Maria Fasoula also matched Okonkwo’s 21 points, adding eight rebounds and four assists. Guard Mamignan Touré contributed 17 points, five assists, and four rebounds, while Nikolina Milić chipped in 10 points and six rebounds.

For Athinaikos, four starters finished in double digits. Guard Holly Winterburn led the team with 19 points and six assists, Robyn Parks posted a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Alexis Prince and Borislava Hristova added 13 and 12 points, respectively.

The defeat marks Besiktas’ second straight loss, following their 81–76 upset against Cukurova in the Turkish Women’s Basketball League. They will look to bounce back when they face Nesibe Aydin in league action on Saturday.
