Inter Milan are preparing to meet with Ademola Lookman’s agent within the next 24 hours to communicate that their pursuit of the Nigerian forward is effectively over, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Bold Sports reports.
The Nerazzurri have grown increasingly frustrated with the lack of progress in negotiations with Atalanta, which have now been stalled for weeks.
Lookman had already handed in a formal transfer request earlier this month after accusing Atalanta of blocking a move he believed had been agreed if a fair offer came in. Inter quickly reached personal terms with the 27-year-old, but their €45 million bid was rejected, with Atalanta insisting on their €50 million valuation.

The Super Eagles star has been away from training for well over a week and is unwilling to play for Atalanta again, underlining his determination to secure the transfer. His decision to wipe all references to the club from his social media platforms further fueled speculation of a complete breakdown in relations.
Despite Lookman’s stance, Atalanta have remained firm in their demands, refusing to lower their price or enter fresh discussions with Inter. With no significant progress since the last bid was turned down, the Serie A giants have now reached the point of walking away.
Inter had initially identified Lookman as a key addition to strengthen their frontline alongside Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thuram. However, Club president Giuseppe Marotta had set a deadline to resolve the saga, warning that they would not let the matter drag on beyond preseason preparations.

As uncertainty mounts, Inter have already begun looking at alternatives. Talks have opened with Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku, who is considered a versatile option should the Lookman deal collapse completely.
