Nottingham Forest, home to Super Eagles stars Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi, will feature in next season’s Europa League following Crystal Palace’s failed legal bid to secure a spot in the competition, Bold Sports reports.

According to The Times, Palace – who lifted the FA Cup and claimed the Community Shield with a penalty shootout win over Liverpool on Sunday – will now compete in the Europa Conference League instead.

The setback comes after UEFA’s Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) ruled that Palace failed to meet a March 1 deadline to address multi-club ownership compliance. The club took the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), but the appeal was rejected on Monday, confirming their demotion to UEFA’s third-tier competition.

Palace are expected to review the full CAS verdict and could explore further legal action, including a potential claim for compensation.

Forest, who initially finished in a Conference League position after a late-season slump, now have the opportunity to earn greater prize money and strengthen their squad as they prepare for four competitions next season.

The club have been active in the transfer market, bringing in Jair Cunha and Igor Jesus from Botafogo, Dan Ndoye from Bologna, and goalkeeper Angus Gunn, while also securing Morgan Gibbs-White on a new deal despite strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

While Awoniyi’s future remains uncertain amid competition from Chris Wood and new signing Igor Jesus, Aina recently extended his contract until 2028, cementing his role as a key figure for Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side ahead of the new campaign.
