Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has emerged as one of Atalanta’s main options to replace Italian striker Mateo Retegui, according to renowned Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Bold Sports reports.
The Genk star is reportedly on a three-man shortlist as the Serie A club seeks a new frontman following Retegui’s recent €65 million move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al Qadsiah.
Sources suggest that Arokodare is Atalanta’s top choice for the role, though negotiations could prove challenging. Fulham’s Brazilian striker Rodrigo Muniz is also under consideration, but with the Premier League season approaching, Fulham may be reluctant to sanction a sale.

Another player being monitored is Lecce’s Nikola Krstovic. The Montenegrin international, who has netted 19 goals in 54 appearances during his time at Via del Mare, is expected to leave the club this summer.
Retegui’s departure has left a major void at Atalanta. The 26-year-old was among the standout performers in Serie A last season, scoring 25 goals and providing eight assists in 36 league matches, along with three goals in the UEFA Champions League.
Despite the magnitude of replacing Retegui, Arokodare presents a strong case. The Nigerian striker impressed in the Belgian Pro League last season with 23 goals and five assists across all competitions, earning him several individual accolades including the Golden Boot.

Meanwhile, Atalanta are also engaged in discussions with Inter Milan over the potential sale of Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman. Should Lookman depart, Liverpool’s Federico Chiesa has reportedly been identified as a potential successor.
