Serie A side Atalanta have officially confirmed the signing of Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana as they look to strengthen their options on the left flank, amid continued speculation over the future of Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman, Bold Sports reports.
Sulemana joins the Bergamo-based club from English Championship side Southampton in a deal reportedly worth €17.5 million, payable in installments, with an additional €4 million in potential add-ons linked to team performance.
Southampton have also secured a 15% sell-on clause, which could see them benefit from any future transfer.
The arrival of Sulemana raises questions about Lookman’s future at the club. While the Ghanaian could serve as a squad player if Lookman stays, his signing is widely seen as a possible replacement, with a departure for the Nigerian winger appearing to be the more likely scenario.

Lookman has attracted interest from several top European clubs in recent weeks. Napoli, in particular, have earmarked him as a long-term replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who left the Serie A side for Paris Saint-Germain in January.
The Nigerian international has also been linked with La Liga champions Barcelona, as well as Premier League sides Arsenal and Manchester United, alongside Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich—all of whom are reportedly in the market for a new left winger this summer.
New Atalanta manager Ivan Juric, who succeeded Gian Piero Gasperini, has confirmed that despite Napoli’s interest, the club currently has no intention of selling Lookman. However, the forward is valued at €60 million, and Atalanta could reconsider their stance if they receive an offer close to that figure.
Since joining Atalanta, Lookman has been a key figure, scoring 52 goals and providing 25 assists in 118 appearances across all competitions. With growing transfer interest, this summer could present the right moment for the 27-year-old to seek a new challenge.
