Italian journalist Ivan Zazzaroni has claimed that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is close to sealing a move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal.

Zazzaroni, who is the editor of Corriere dello Sport, made the revelation during an appearance on Radio Kiss Kiss, suggesting that the deal is nearly completed.

“I can tell you it’s practically done, Osimhen will join Al-Hilal,” Zazzaroni said.

“Nobody else can match that offer, not even half. 40m per season is astonishing, out of the market. He didn’t want to go for the Club World Cup, but Al-Hilal are very confident. That’s it. Galatasaray can’t even afford to pay half of that fee. There are no offers from the Premier League. It would be surprising if he doesn’t go there.”

The Napoli striker had earlier rejected a €30 million-per-year offer from Al-Hilal, but reports in Italy suggest the Saudi Pro League club has returned with an improved deal and are still pushing to land the Nigerian.

Osimhen spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Turkish giants Galatasaray, where he delivered a stunning return of 37 goals in 41 matches across all competitions. He helped the club win the league title and was named the Turkish Super Lig’s best player of the season.

The 26-year-old has a €75 million release clause in his contract at Napoli, but the clause does not apply to clubs within Italy. His current deal runs until 2026, though Napoli hold an option to extend it by another year.

Osimhen scored 76 goals in 133 appearances for the Italian side, winning the Serie A title in 2023 and establishing himself as one of the most lethal forwards in Europe.

Should he make the move, Osimhen would join former Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi at Al-Hilal, becoming the latest high-profile name to head to Saudi Arabia.
