Super Falcons Head Coach Justin Madugu has invited a total of 24 players ahead of the 2024 Women African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, recalling ex-Barcelona star Asisat Oshoala alongside captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Michelle Alozie and forward Rinsola Babajide.

Oshoala will be returning to the national team for the first time since the Paris Olympics where she started two of the team’s three games as they crashed out of the group stage. She joins Rasheedat Ajibade, Osinachi Ohale, Chiamaka Nnadozie, and Francisca Ordega as the only players in the squad with WAFCON titles.

Ashleigh Plumptre has also returned to the national team joining Demehin Oluwatosin, Michelle Alozie, Ohale Osinachi, Isah Sikiratu, Oladipo Shukurat and Usani Miracle in defense.

Ahead of the tournament, the Super Falcons will play a friendly match against Portugal in Lisbon on June 23, followed by a clash with their West African rivals Ghana just days before kicking off their campaign against Tunisia on June 6.

With nine continental titles to their name, the Super Falcons remain the most successful team in the history of African women’s football. However they’ll be looking to secure a record-extending 10th WAFCON title at Morocco.
