Nottingham Forest, home to Nigerian duo Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi, will kick off their 2025-26 Premier League campaign with a home clash against Brentford while fellow Super Eagles stars Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey will begin their season with Fulham away at Brighton.
Forest and Fulham both enjoyed strong campaigns last season and will be aiming to build on that momentum. Forest, who spent much of the campaign in the top four, ultimately finished seventh with 65 points—securing a spot in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Fulham, on the other hand, recorded their best-ever points total in a Premier League season, finishing 11th with 54 points under the guidance of Portuguese tactician Marco Silva.

While Taiwo Awoniyi’s future at Forest remains uncertain amid transfer speculation, his compatriot Ola Aina will be hoping to continue his impressive form as he was widely regarded as one of the league’s standout right-backs last season.
Calvin Bassey also shone for Fulham, earning the club’s Player of the Season award after receiving 39.6% of the fans’ votes, edging out fellow Nigerian Alex Iwobi, who finished second with 21.5%, while U.S. international Antonee Robinson came third with 19.9%.
Meanwhile, Iwobi enjoyed the most productive season of his career, contributing nine goals and six assists and he will be eager to build on that under head coach Marco Silva, who is set to remain in charge at Craven Cottage.

Fulham will conclude their 2025-26 campaign at home against Newcastle, while Nottingham Forest will wrap up their season at the City Ground against Bournemouth.
Aina, Awoniyi, Bassey, and Iwobi are currently the four Nigerian internationals confirmed to be featuring in the Premier League next season. Promising Nigerian youngsters Benjamin Fredrick and Ahmed Abdullahi may also be in line to make their Premier League debuts for Brentford and Sunderland respectively.
