Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal have ended their interest in Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen after failing to reach an agreement over salary demands.
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, the 2024/25 Saudi Pro League runners-up were unwilling to meet Osimhen’s €35 million annual salary demand — a figure seen as excessive even by their big-spending standards.
Al-Hilal had made Osimhen a key target, but negotiations hit a deadlock after the Napoli striker reportedly insisted on a salary increase, prompting the club to move on to other options.

The development is a significant boost for Turkish champions Galatasaray, who have made Osimhen their top priority this summer. Fotomac reports that the Istanbul club has increased its offer to €26 million as it looks to secure the 25-year-old forward.
While Galatasaray may not match the financial power of their Saudi counterparts, they continue to work behind the scenes to convince Osimhen. Talks are ongoing with his representatives, and the club’s board is maintaining strong contact with Italian side Napoli, where Osimhen is still under contract.
The Super Eagles forward is expected to leave Napoli this summer. But with Al-Hilal now out of the picture, Galatasaray could be positioning itself as a serious contender.
