Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika has reacted to Union Saint-Gilloise’s historic Belgian Pro League title triumph, expressing his disappointment while also appreciating the fans for their unwavering support throughout the season.

Club Brugge nearly defended their Belgian league title, stringing together three consecutive wins to close the gap on Union Saint-Gilloise. However, on the final day, they were held to a draw by Royal Antwerp, while Union sealed a 3-1 victory over Gent to clinch their first league title in 90 years.

Nonetheless, Club Brugge enjoyed a successful season, securing their 12th Belgian Cup title with a 2-1 win over Anderlecht and reaching the Champions League Round of 16 after defeating Atalanta in the playoffs, before eventually being knocked out by Aston Villa.

Following Club Brugge’s final match against Royal Antwerp, Onyedika shared his thoughts on his Instagram page: “Disappointed not to bring the trophy home. Thank you guys for this wonderful season, Your support in rain and sun, at home, far away from home, pushed us to achieve a lot this season.”

The midfielder expressed his desire to accomplish even greater things with Club Brugge next season, charging the fans to maintain the same strong support: “Enjoy the holiday and recharge cause we need the same energy to achieve more next season.”

Onyedika’s impressive season earned him a nomination for the prestigious 2025 Ebony Shoe Award, although he ultimately lost out to Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare who also earned the top scorer award with 21 goals.

The midfielder was a consistent presence for Club Brugge, appearing in 52 matches across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing two assists, demonstrating both his commitment to being reliable defensively and his ability to contribute offensively when needed.
