Samuel Chukwueze’s time at AC Milan may soon come to an end, as the club is considering selling the Nigerian winger after two underwhelming seasons in a move to avoid a financial loss.
Chukwueze joined Milan from Villarreal in the summer of 2023 with high expectations, but has since struggled to make a meaningful impact. He has largely played a supporting role, failing to secure a regular place in the starting lineup.
With three years remaining on his contract, Milan faces a critical financial decision. The club still has just under €13 million of his transfer fee recorded on its books—a figure known as the “residual value.” If they sell him for less than that amount, the club would be forced to report a capital loss. To break even, Milan must secure at least €13 million from any potential transfer.

There are also signs that Chukwueze may be open to a move, as he is unlikely to settle for a continued role on the bench. The 25-year-old is reportedly attracting interest from other clubs and may be looking to revive his career elsewhere.
According to reports from Milan News, one of the key reasons behind Chukwueze’s struggles is the difference in playing styles between La Liga and Serie A.
While Spanish football often allows more freedom and space for attacking players, the Italian league is known for its tactical discipline and tighter defenses, conditions that may not suit his natural style of play.
Injuries have also played a role in limiting his progress at the club. Since arriving at San Siro, Chukwueze has registered just eight goals and four assists in 66 appearances across all competitions, a return far below expectations for a player of his profile.
