Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi can leave Leicester City for £9 million due to a relegation release clause in his contract according to BBC Sport football news reporter Nizaar Kinsella.

Ndidi’s release clause came into effect after Leicester City were relegated from the Premier League, following their 1-0 defeat to new champions Liverpool at the King Power Stadium on Sunday, April 20.

The frustrating outcome marked Leicester’s second relegation in three seasons and saw them become the first team in Premier League history to go nine consecutive home games without scoring, prompting several players to reassess their futures.

Ndidi was already drawing interest from clubs such as Monaco and Everton when he was available on a free transfer last summer.

Nonetheless, he chose to sign a new three-year deal with Leicester, committing to the club until June 2027, but the interest from other clubs likely influenced the decision to include a release clause in his latest contract.

Despite Leicester City’s difficult season, Ndidi stood out as one of the few positives, starting 25 Premier League matches and providing four assists. He has also enjoyed significant success with the club, playing a key role in their historic first-ever FA Cup victory, their Community Shield win, and their Championship title triumph.
