Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi made his comeback after several weeks on the sidelines due to injury as Nottingham Forest secured a vital 2-1 victory away at Tottenham Hotspur in their Premier League clash on Monday.
Prior to the game, Awoniyi’s most recent outing came in Forest’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United, where he featured for 86 minutes as Nuno Espirito Santo’s men completed a league double over the Red Devils. Since his injury-enforced absence, the team have faltered, suffering back-to-back defeats to Aston Villa and Everton.
The Nigerian striker made his comeback in the 78th minute against Tottenham, replacing Chris Wood who was likewise easing back to full fitness after an injury sustained during the international break.
