Cyriel Dessers delivered a standout performance, netting twice to lead Glasgow Rangers to a 3-0 victory over Dundee United, securing their place in the Scottish Cup semifinal on Saturday as the Gers aim to defend their title.
It was the first game at the Ibrox for the Light Blues who started the campaign at Hampden due to stadium works.
The Nigerian international opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a clever flick and doubled his tally in the 66th minute with a well-executed volley. Captain James Tavernier added to the scoreline with a penalty in the 50th minute, sealing the win.
Reflecting on his brace, Dessers, who lifted the Scottish Cup in his debut season with Rangers, expressed his desire to retain the trophy and bring joy to the fans.

“It’s a good feeling to be back, we wanted to show something to our fans and I think we gave them a beautiful night. It was nice to score at home in front of the fans it’s a different feeling honestly,” Dessers told Rangers TV after the win.
“We had success last season and it was a beautiful moment. So, you’ve had the feeling, you know the feeling and you want to get the feeling back and we want to defend the trophy.”
He was substituted in the 68th minute, making way for Hamza Igamane, as he left the field to applause from the supporters.
