Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface has expressed confidence that his former Bayer Leverkusen teammates, Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, will soon make their mark at Liverpool despite their slow start to life in the English Premier League.
Boniface, who is currently on loan at Werder Bremen from Leverkusen, made this known during a press conference in Germany on Tuesday.
Wirtz and Frimpong both joined the Reds in the summer from Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen, with Liverpool spending £116 million on the German midfielder and £29.5m on the Dutch wing-back. However, the duo have yet to replicate the dazzling form that made them fan favourites in Germany.

Wirtz’s struggles since moving to Anfield have been well documented. The 22-year-old has featured in 10 Premier League matches without registering a goal or an assist. He has, however, shown flashes of his quality in the UEFA Champions League, providing two assists in three appearances, and will be eager to build on that when Liverpool face Real Madrid on Tuesday night.
While criticism has continued to mount over their performances, Boniface, who spent two seasons alongside Wirtz and Frimpong at Leverkusen, believes it’s only a matter of time before the pair find their rhythm in England.
“Jeremie Frimpong and I talk every day because Jerry’s my guy. As for Flo (Florian Wirtz), don’t worry – you’ll enjoy watching him soon. We all know how brilliant he is,” Boniface said during a special press conference on Tuesday.

“I know there’s been a lot of talk about their performances so far, but trust me, Flo is a wonderful player – hardworking, humble, and very talented. Soon, Liverpool fans will see his quality, and he’ll deliver. I’m very confident he’ll come good.”
Frimpong is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury but has made nine appearances for Liverpool across all competitions this season.
