Atalanta’s Europa League hero, Ademola Lookman, is set to spearhead the Italian side’s challenge against Champions League winners Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup final at the National Stadium in Warsaw later today.
The Nigerian winger was the standout performer as Atalanta clinched their first-ever major trophy with a 3-0 demolition of Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final, scoring a hat-trick.

The UEFA Super Cup pits the champions of Europe’s two premier club competitions against each other in a one-off match to determine the continent’s ultimate club. Real Madrid, with four Super Cup final appearances in their last five attempts, are the clear favorites.
However, Atalanta, buoyed by their recent success, is aiming to replicate the shock victory of their Spanish rivals Atletico Madrid in 2018.
Lookman is raring to go for the Super Cup. He believes his team fully earned their spot and can’t wait to take the field.
“Not just me but I think the whole squad is excited about the occasion, excited because we deserve to be here to win the Europa League, so, our hard work and perseverance have brought us here, so it is another night for us to show that and show our quality in the right moment, so I’m excited,” the Super Eagles winger said at the pre-match press conference.
A win for Atalanta will be a massive advertisement for the Italian Serie A who last had a team play in the Super Cup 14 years ago.
