Rivers Hoopers’ point guard, Will Perry, has been named to the 2024 All-Basketball Africa League (BAL) First Team, while the duo of Devine Eke and Kelvin Amayo made it to the All-BAL Second Team.
Perry was the floor general for the Hoopers, leading the Nigerian team to a third-place finish in their second appearance at the BAL.
The American led the Hoopers in scoring, averaging 17.2 points per game, 5.4 assists per game, and 4.3 rebounds per game, while also shooting 91.9% from the free throw line, the highest percentage of any player in the competition.
Perry is joined by Cape Town Tigers’ Samkelo Cele, US Monastire’s Marcus Crawford, Al Ahly Libya’s Joseph Lual Lual-Acuil, and FUS Rabat’s Aliou Diarra in the All-BAL First Team of 2024.
The duo of Devine Eke and Kelvin Amayo were both voted into the 2024 All-BAL Second Team after their contributions to Rivers Hoopers’ success at the BAL. Both players are joined by Al Ahly’s Ehab Amin Saleh, AS Douanes’ Harouna Abdoulaye, and Al Ahly Libya’s Majok Machar Deng.
D’Tigers forward Devine Eke was one of Rivers Hoopers’ biggest contributors throughout the tournament, averaging 16.6 points per game, 11.3 rebounds per game, and 2.6 assists per game. His compatriot Kelvin Amayo averaged 16 points per game, seven assists per game, and 5.2 rebounds per game.
Amayo led the BAL in three-point attempts (121) and also led the competition in three-pointers made (27), tied with teammate Will Perry. Amayo also averaged 2.7 steals per game, second only to AS Douanes’ Harouna Abdoulaye, who averaged 4.0 steals per game.
Kelvin Amayo, Eke, and Perry averaged the most playing time for the Hoopers, clocking 37.0 minutes, 36.3 minutes, and 35.1 minutes per game, respectively.
