Super Eagles midfielders Frank Onyeka and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru have praised the team’s unity, focus and winning mentality following their emphatic 4–0 victory over Mozambique in the Round of 16 of the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Nigeria booked their place in the quarter-finals courtesy of goals from Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams, while the Super Eagles also recorded their first clean sheet of the tournament after four matches.
Reflecting on the performance, Onyeka expressed satisfaction with the way the Super Eagles executed their game plan, noting that the players stayed disciplined and effective from start to finish.

He highlighted the positive atmosphere within the squad, adding that the players’ reactions after the final whistle reflected their delight with both the performance and the result.
“We did well, we played well and we scored four goals. We are happy, and the fans are happy,” Onyeka said, stressing that the mood in the camp was clearly upbeat.
Looking ahead to the quarter-final clash against either Algeria or the Democratic Republic of Congo, Onyeka insisted the team would not get carried away. He emphasised that the Super Eagles remain grounded and fully focused on their preparations as they await confirmation of their next opponents.

Dele Bashiru echoed similar sentiments, underlining the importance of togetherness and consistency as the tournament progresses. The midfielder said the squad is determined to stay solid in all areas and raise their level even higher in the next round.
“We stay solid in everything we do,” Bashiru said. “The mentality of the team is to win, and we will work even harder for the next match.”
Both players spoke to reporters after Nigeria’s victory over Mozambique, per Ademola Victor TV, as quiet confidence continues to build within the Super Eagles camp ahead of the quarter-final stage.
