…Moses Simon set to join Ahmed Musa, Vincent Enyeama, Joseph Yobo, Alex Iwobi in 100-cap club
Super Eagles forward Moses Simon is set to make history as one of only five players to reach 100 appearances for Nigeria’s senior men’s national team.
The Paris FC forward, according to available records, has made 99 appearances for the Super Eagles since making his international debut in a 1-0 home defeat to Uganda in an international friendly in Uyo. Simon featured for 31 minutes after replacing striker Anthony Ujah in the 59th minute.
Since making his debut, Simon has represented Nigeria at four Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments, scoring once and providing four assists in 23 appearances. He was also unfortunate to miss the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia due to injury.
If Simon features in either of Nigeria’s 2027 AFCON qualifying matches against Madagascar or Guinea-Bissau, he will join an exclusive group of four other players who have reached the 100-cap milestone for the national team.

The quartet includes former captain Ahmed Musa, who has 111 appearances, Vincent Enyeama and Joseph Yobo, who have 101 caps each, and Alex Iwobi, who has also reached 100 appearances.
Overall, Simon has scored 12 goals in 99 appearances for Nigeria and will be hoping to mark his 100th international game with another goal.
Reports indicate that officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and senior officials of the National Sports Commission are expected to be in attendance to honour the 31-year-old on the occasion.
Simon will also be hoping to play a key role as the Super Eagles pursue qualification for the 2027 AFCON and attempt to end Nigeria’s wait for another continental title, with the country’s last triumph coming in 2013.
