Nigeria’s Flamingos maintained their perfect record at the WAFU B U17 Girls Cup with a 2-0 victory over hosts Ivory Coast in Yamoussoukro on Thursday.
Oluwakemi Adegbuyi scored in the fourth minute to give Nigeria an early lead. The Flamingos held that advantage through the rest of the first half and much of the second before Pattra Oparanmegwa added a second goal in the 83rd minute.
The win follows a 5-0 opening victory over Niger, a 4-2 defeat of Ghana and a 2-0 success against Burkina Faso. Nigeria have now scored 13 goals and conceded twice in four matches, keeping clean sheets in their last two.
The Ghana match remains the only one in which the Flamingos have conceded. Against Ivory Coast, the early goal gave them something to protect in front of the hosts, and Oparanmegwa’s late finish secured the points. Adegbuyi’s goal also continued a tournament in which Nigeria have found contributions from across the side.

The Flamingos face Togo on Sunday, seeking a fifth consecutive win. The competitive matches are part of their build-up to the U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, and the final fixture will give the coaches another chance to assess the team before that tournament.
