Super Falcons striker Joy Omewa says she is on cloud nine after scoring her first senior international goals in Nigeria’s 3-0 victory over Senegal in an international friendly at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Monday.
After missing a clear-cut opportunity in the first half, Omewa made amends just three minutes into the second half, rising highest to head home a pinpoint cross from Shukurat Oladipo and give the Super Falcons the lead. She doubled her tally in the 56th minute with a composed finish to cap an impressive individual performance.
Veteran forward Asisat Oshoala sealed the win in the 66th minute with a simple tap-in, ensuring Nigeria secured a second victory over their West African rivals within four days.

The brace marked Omewa’s first goals for the senior national team, and the striker expressed her delight at both her personal achievement and the team’s overall performance.
“I’m super happy with the win and the amazing performance from the girls in front of our home fans in Ikenne. I’m grateful to score my first two goals for Nigeria. It’s a dream come true for me and my family,” she said.
The friendly served as part of Nigeria’s preparations for next month’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the Super Falcons will be aiming to defend their continental crown.
Omewa will now hope that her standout display has done enough to convince head coach Justin Madugu and his technical crew to include her in the squad for the tournament.
